    A permit is need to travel from Leh to Pangong Lake , because
    it is situated in the disputed border of India and Tibet.
    our driver obtained it for us.

    finally , the first view of Pangong lake after 8 hours ride from Leh

    the Pangong-Tso ( at 4350m above sea level , this lake is situated higher than
    mount Kinabalu )
    on the other side of the mountains is already Tibet.
    this is the site for the climax scene in the famous bollywood movie
    " The 3 Idiots "



    the lake is still frozen during my visit in April



    the lake is starting to melt and crack.
    i can hear crackling sounds when walking on it!
